Council leaders spoke out yesterday, after an unnamed professional film company released a short film showing Bournemouth beach on a sunny day, and claimed that this was the middle of summer. They also reiterated that companies are required to have permission to film council land, which includes the beach, but not the rainclouds.

"We feel outraged that a company could try to pass off summertime as warm and sunny. It is not fair to mislead the public like that, and we can't help but feel partly responsible for allowing the company to film."
"The film later contained other inaccuracies, such as claiming that Bournemouth has lots to do, and a competent local authority."
The council's words were echoed by someone we found on the beach yesterday: "RAIN! S'always raining. You got 20p?"
But the film company involved hit back, claiming that their films weren't deliberately inaccurate: "Yes, we've used a bit of artistic licence, but there are some sunny days during the summer. I'm afraid the bit about the council was almost a complete fabrication though. I mean, being caught looking at porn on your laptop? That's a far-fetched story, even in - hold on...WHAT?"
