The drinks company, Pimms, told of a meeting between them and Poole's council leaders in which they were asked to move the giant deckchair to Hamworthy and lay it across the entrance to Holes Bay. Pimms boss Julian Winter said: "I can confirm that a meeting between us and Poole Borough Council has led to talks to move the Pimms deckchair to Poole to be used as a bridge."
Get over it
It will be the first time that a deckchair has been used as a bridge, but despite its canvas surface, will be much safer to drive on than the Twin Sails bridge. The bridge, which was due to open in April...or May...or whenever they can fix it, will now be demolished by leaving it exactly where it is.
A spokesman from Poole council told us: "This guy...this guy is..hic...amazing. We're gonna have a...a...thing that people can...hic...drive on and that. And that other bridge thing, don't...hic...worry about that, mate. You're my...hic...best friend. Another...hic... Pimms, please, barkeep."
The deckchair will be moved at the end of the month, and will be carried 4 miles by employees of engineering company Hochtief as punishment.
